Woman’s Club

I just finnished writing an ad for my woman’s club.  As I was writing, i got to thinking about how so many people never give these types of clubs a try.  It’s like they think a group like this is supposed to be stuffy, and boring.  I find it to be quite the oppostite.  I know a few of you read this blog, so to you I say,  thank you.  Thanks for filling a little hole in my life.  We all run around forgetting to get to know those around us.  I have been going to the same grocery store for 3 years.  I don’t know a single person’s name at the store, but I see them about 3 times a week.  Not good… Not good at all!  Take some time to get involved in your community.  Take a moment to reach out.   It can add so much to  your life.

Oh, and if you live in Richmond and want to meet a group of wonderful women, email us at bonairjuniors@hotmail.com

The caring lady at the front desk…

I had to go into the doctor’s today for a simple dye test.  That’s when they put dye into your body and take pictures of where it goes.

Here is the conversation I had with the lady at the front desk checking me in:

Lady:  Can I have your name?

Me: Leslie

Lady: Date of Birth

Me: 12/24/ 1980

Lady:  Put this hospital bracelet on.

Me:  I thought this was outpatient…

Lady: Do you have a living will?

Me: Do i need one? Wait, i think we are moving too fast here.  I just wanted to have a baby.

8:22 am

It’s 8.22 am on a Saturday and I am awake for no damn reason. I have officially gotten old. I was even in bed before 11 last night. Wooohooo… things are getting wild ’round here.We have a lovely day planned of housework and home repair and errands. It’s just like Frank said in the movie “Old School” –

“Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we’re going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don’t know, I don’t know if we’ll have enough time.”Happy Saturday!

Everybody Loves Raymond

To catch everyone up, John and I are building a house. We figured out the financials, and discovered that with all of our connections and our know how this is a sound financial decision. Not to mention the fact that it gets us out of our house that was built in the 1950s. (This house certainly has some charm and it has been good to us really…but we aren’t ones to hold on too long if something else enticing comes our way.)

Well, about a month ago, we found this not so perfect lot in an oh so perfect location and began chatting it up among our circle of friends. Not long after we began to talk, some of our friends began to listen. And now they want in! It just so happens that our lot is next to ….yeah, you guessed it, another lot. Now our friends are thinking of buying. How fun is that?

I know, I know… no more walking around naked, and no more disheveled days of working in the yard. These friends usually see us after at least a good 5 minutes of primping and spit-training hairs into place. It’s time to be put together all of the time. It’s time for clean cars. Freshly moved lawns, and removing the Christmas lights in a timely manner. It’s time to be real. I mean that’s how our friends always are, of course.

While a mild concern or two is gracing my thoughts, the vast majority of my mind’s wanderings are very pleasant. I picture wine after work, helping each other on weekends, and even the occasional walk in the evening or babysitting. Neighbors…wow, now that’s something we can all hope for!

I did it!

My first grocery trip using all re-usable bags! ( Well, almost…the guy at the register put my raw meat in a separate bag. I’ll need to think on a good way to combat that aspect of going green.)

I bought over $100 bucks worth of groceries, and it all fit well into 4 bags.  Usually i come home from the store with about 10 plastic bags, which i usually just throw away.

Next, I’ll try and figure out how to eliminate all of those bags you use in the produce department.

Strange Dream

I woke up this morning, and I was livid. I had some kind of dream where i was being forced to do something that I didn’t want to do. I was being forced into some lifestyle that I didn’t want. My friends and family had all turned on me and they were enforcing this way of life that I wanted nothing to do with…. And that’s all I remember. Dreams are so strange like that – vivid, and rampant with real/ raw emotions, and then they are gone. Rarely can I recall specific details of my dreams. Maybe it’s better that way…

Oh Bother…

Yesterday afternoon I bought a website.  FollowTheCook.com.  I got to thinking, what if I could make a website with basic cooking videos and downloadable recipes/ shopping lists.  Good idea right?  Right.  So good in fact that in my surfing around the net last night i discovered http://startcooking.com/. I wanted to cry.  Is it bad to try and do something when someone else is already doing it so well?  Hmmmm…. Any thoughts/ suggestions?

My Very Own Food TV

On a whim, i invited my brother over tonight, and we taped a version of my very own cooking show. We made tomato soup. Why did i do this? Because i always thought it would be fun, that’s why! AND it was….

Surprisingly, I was very natural in front of the camera. I guess i was in my element there in the kitchen ( in front of my family).  Maybe I’ll make a few more episodes.  Maybe I’ll put it on the Internet  and find a way to make a profit off this…. Maybe.

 It’s fun to dream!

Casino Night

Yesterday I had my first meeting with Massino’s Casinos.  They will be helping my woman’s club put together a fund raiser for M.S.  We plan to raise as much money as possible by throwing a Casino/Texas hold ‘em night… and we’ll have a great time doing it.  I think that’s the best way to get involved.  Find something you truly feel good about and throw yourself into it.  Much better than wasting your time doing something that doesn’t speak to you.  Fun and games for a good cause….. Yeah, I’m in. Stay tuned for more details and information on how you can be involved!
